I'd been reading tarot for years. Not for predictions.

What interested me was what happens between an image and the person looking at it.

So I painted the way you'd pull a card. I didn't decide what a piece was about before I made it. I sat down and painted whatever was actually there that day, then looked at the finished thing and read it back.

These weren't categories I planned.
They're places I'd been. I only saw the shape after I finished.
